چکیده

Hide-and-Seek is a powerful yet simple and easily implemented continuous simulated annealing algorithm for finding the maximum of a continuous function over an arbitrary closed, bounded and full-dimensional body. The function may be nondifferentiable and the feasible region may be noneonvex or even disconnected. The algorithm begins with any feasible interior point. In each iteration it generates a candidate successor point by generating a uniformly distributed point along a direction chosen at random from the current iteration point. In contrast to the discrete case, a single step of this algorithm may generate any point in the feasible region as a candidate point. The candidate point is then accepted as the next iteration point according to the Metropolis criterion parametrized by an adaptive cooling schedule. Again in contrast to discrete simulated annealing, the sequence of iteration points converges in probability to a global optimum regardless of how rapidly the temperatures converge to zero. Empirical comparisons with other algorithms suggest competitive performance by Hide-and-Seek.

Constrained Simulated Annealing with Applications in Nonlinear Continuous Constrained Global Optimization

This paper improves constrained simulated annealing (CSA), a discrete global minimization algorithm with asymptotic convergence to discrete constrained global minima with probability one. The algorithm is based on the necessary and suucient conditions for discrete constrained local minima in the theory of discrete La-grange multipliers. We extend CSA to solve nonlinear continuous constrained op...

Constrained Multi-global Optimization using a Penalty Stretched Simulated Annealing Framework

This paper presents a new simulated annealing algorithm to solve constrained multi-global optimization problems. To compute all global solutions in a sequential manner, we combine the function stretching technique with the adaptive simulated annealing variant. Constraint-handling is carried out through a nondifferentiable penalty function. To benchmark our penalty stretched simulated annealing ...

Particle swarm and simulated annealing for multi-global optimization

Particle swarm and simulated annealing optimization algorithms proved to be valid in finding a global optimum in the bound constrained optimization context. However, their original versions can only detect one global optimum even if the problem has more than one solution. In this paper we propose modifications to both algorithms. In the particle swarm optimization algorithm we introduce gradien...

Simulated annealing with asymptotic convergence for nonlinear constrained optimization

In this paper, we present constrained simulated annealing (CSA), an algorithm that extends conventional simulated annealing to look for constrained local minima of nonlinear constrained optimization problems. The algorithm is based on the theory of extended saddle points (ESPs) that shows the one-to-one correspondence between a constrained local minimum and anESP of the corresponding penalty fu...

Global Optimization Method for Design Problems

Article history: Received: 13.2.2015. Received in revised form: 24.3.2015. Accepted: 27.3.2015. In structural design optimization method, numerical techniques are increasingly used. In typical structural optimization problems there may be many locally minimum configurations. For that reason, the application of a global method, which may escape from the locally minimum points, remains essential....

Simulated Annealing with Asymptotic Convergence for Nonlinear Constrained Global Optimization

In this paper, we present constrained simulated annealing (CSA), a global minimization algorithm that converges to constrained global minima with probability one, for solving nonlinear discrete nonconvex constrained minimization problems. The algorithm is based on the necessary and sufficient condition for constrained local minima in the theory of discrete Lagrange multipliers we developed earl...
